I wanted to share a fun offer from Genevieve Jopanda, the local general manager for ZipCar, the car sharing company that I belong to… People around the country are facing the prospects of $4/gallon by this summer and completely rethinking their first, or second car. Beginning July 21, Zipcar is challenging residents in all twelve of its North American markets to live a “Low Car Diet” for 30 days.
We’d like to invite you to join! That’s right, we’re replacing your keys with a complimentary transit pass, Zipcar membership, drive time credit and a host of other amenities from local partners to see how you get around without your car, and just how much money, gas and, most importantly, emissions you save.
We’ll kick off the Low Car Diet with a ceremonious key-drop event on July 21st, 2008 and we’d love you to be a part of it.
The challenge will last 30 days and will end with another event commemorating the accomplishment on August 15th—and, more importantly, seeing how your life was altered by giving up your vehicle.
If you’re not already a Zipcar member and would like to partake in the Low-Car Diet please e-mail
firstname.lastname@example.org email@example.com with the subject line “San Francisco Low Car Diet” to get started!
NOTE: A select group of drivers will be selected so entry into the Low Car Diet program is not automatic.
