Assemblymember Fiona Ma is a special guest and Albert Hwu of Wells Fargo and Gautum Barua of Aclaria Partners are two of the event co-hosts. The $40 admission includes food and drink. The New Leaders Council started three years ago to increase the presence and influence of progressive individuals as corporate CEOs, journalists, elected officials and candidates. Conservatives have invested in these same types of people since the 1960s and we are just beginning now. NLC strengthens the progressive movement by identifying and recruiting new progressive leaders. NLC provides these emerging leaders with training, mentoring, networking, and job placement opportunities that equip them to be civic leaders, not only for elective office, but also in their communities and workplaces. It recognizes that a truly progressive movement is inclusive and empowering and makes a special effort to recruit people from outside the usual power structures.
